Song Keller, Café Gratitude: Sacred Commerce: Business as a Path of Awakening
Barry Fitzgerald, Artist/Illustrator: Behind the Scenes of Art and Illustration
About Song Keller
My calling is People are Awake and Free. In my role as General Manager I have the opportunity to be fulfilled in my purpose every day. I'm in my 9th year with the café, and what started as a part time job to fill in gaps between Summers working as a chef in Alaska, developed into a place I consider home and a career that enlivens and nourishes me. I am grateful to be entrusted to hold the vision for Café Gratitude.
Something I am passionate about is our impact on the development of societal "conversations" on the topics of Work and Service. What would it be like to whole-heartedly invite customers and employees alike to fully be themselves? Could we ease up on the pressure to have our interactions look a particular way, and instead practice being present with one another in the moment no matter what the experience is occurring? My focus is supporting our employees to develop and strengthen skills and capacities that support them to be with themselves and others in a wide range of human experiences, and to celebrate human-ness. I love that I'm always learning in these areas and grateful to share and contribute to the growth and empowerment of my community.
In addition to running the café, I enjoy cooking, singing, spiritual studies, doing nothing, and organizing things. I live with a cat and a dog who are both fantastically cuddly companions. Once a month I can be found at Sacred Hearts Healing Center in Tonganoxie, KS, where I co-host a beautiful women's circle. From time to time I offer various workshops and opportunities to gather intentionally in community and delve deeper into relationship with self, other, and Spirit. I am available for one-on-one or couples coaching and conversation mediation. I adore my community and I am here to serve.
My favorite food is strawberries. I remember picking them from my grandparents' garden as a child. When I learned I could just eat the greens along with the berry it was life-changing. Eat them, they're good for you!
