The 2018 Vintage

On the heels of the tremendous 2015 and 2016 vintages, and immediately following the challenging 2017 vintage, 2018 has received mixed reviews. The weather provided some challenges including frost, hail, and rain. Warm summer temperatures helped and the best producers in the best sites produced tremendous wines with more focus on elegance than power. Wines will typically drink well a bit earlier than in bigger vintages, but will still have the ability to age from the best estates. Sites with south/southwest exposure that enjoyed more sun will benefit greatly.
